Dosing Basics

Start low, go slow, and avoid common mistakes.

Dosing basics

Cannabis dosing is personal. Body size does not predict everything. Tolerance, metabolism, product type, food, sleep, mood, setting, and previous experience all matter.

Start low, go slow

For many beginners, a low edible dose is around 1–2.5 mg THC, with 5 mg still considered low for some but too much for others. For inhaled cannabis, one small puff and a pause is more useful than trying to keep up with someone experienced.

Common mistakes

  • Taking more edibles before the first dose peaks.
  • Assuming high THC always means better.
  • Ignoring CBD and terpene profile.
  • Using cannabis when anxious about the experience.
  • Driving too soon.
