Cannabinoid
A compound that interacts with cannabinoid-related systems in the body.
CBD
A non-intoxicating cannabinoid common in hemp and cannabis products.
CBG
A minor cannabinoid sometimes found in specialty products.
CBN
A cannabinoid often associated with aged THC and marketed in nighttime products.
COA
Certificate of analysis; a lab report for a product batch.
Concentrate
A high-potency cannabis extract.
Decarboxylation
Heat-driven process that converts acidic cannabinoids such as THCa toward active forms such as THC.
Delta-9 THC
The main intoxicating THC form in cannabis.
Edible
A cannabis product eaten or swallowed.
Entourage effect
A broad term for the idea that cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds can work together.
Flower
Dried cannabis bud.
Full-spectrum
Product containing multiple plant compounds, sometimes including trace THC.
Hemp
Low delta-9 THC cannabis under U.S. legal definition.
Indica / Sativa
Traditional categories that do not reliably predict effects by themselves.
Pre-roll
Ready-made cannabis joint.
Terpene
Aromatic compound contributing smell and flavor.
THC
Primary intoxicating cannabinoid.
THCa
Acidic precursor to THC in raw flower.
Tincture
Liquid cannabis product often dosed by drops.
Topical
Product applied to skin.
Trichome
Resin gland on cannabis flower where many cannabinoids and terpenes concentrate.
